🧭 What is the PNP?

The PNP allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who want to immigrate to Canada and settle in a particular province based on local labour market needs and economic priorities.

🏷️ How It Works: Two Main Streams

1. Base PNP Streams

✅ Apply directly to a province
✅ Province evaluates your application
✅ If nominated, you then apply for permanent residence through IRCC (federal)
✅ Slower (can take over a year)

2. Enhanced PNP Streams

✅ Connected to Express Entry
✅ Create an Express Entry profile first
✅ Province can send you a "Notification of Interest"
✅ If you accept, apply to the province
✅ If nominated, you get 600 extra CRS points — almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR
✅ Much faster (6-month average if through Express Entry)

🧑‍💻 Who Can Apply?

Each province/territory has its criteria based on:

  • Work experience

  • Job offer (in-demand occupations)

  • Education

  • Language ability

  • Connection to the province (e.g., studies, relatives, previous work)

📍 Provinces and Territories with PNPs

  • Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

  • British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)

  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

  • Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)

  • New Brunswick PNP

  • Prince Edward Island PNP (PEI PNP)

  • Newfoundland and Labrador PNP

  • Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

  • Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)

🔑 Benefits of the PNP

✅ Increases your chances if your CRS score is low
✅ Gives you a pathway to permanent residence tied to real job demand
✅ Some PNPs don’t require a job offer or high language scores
✅ Often better suited for international graduates, tradespeople, or those with Canadian work/study experience
