Atlantic Immigration Program

What do you know about Atlantic Canada?

Atlantic Canada is the easternmost region of Canada and includes four provinces:

  1. New Brunswick

  2. Nova Scotia

  3. Prince Edward Island (PEI)

  4. Newfoundland and Labrador

🌊 Geography & Climate

  • The Atlantic Ocean borders the coastal region, so expect many rugged shorelines, cliffs, beaches, and fishing villages.

  • Weather: Humid continental climate—cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Coastal areas can be foggy and windy, especially in Newfoundland.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Population & Culture

  • Smaller population compared to other regions of Canada—friendly, close-knit communities.

  • Strong Scottish, Irish, English, Acadian (French), and Indigenous (Mi’kmaq, Innu) cultural influences.

  • Many people speak English, but a significant Francophone community exists, especially in New Brunswick (Canada’s only officially bilingual province).
